Achille Lefrere

Captain

Captain Achille was born and raised in Porto-Vecchio, in one of the best places for sailing in the Western Mediterranean, where he developed a strong passion for the sea.

With a dream to circumnavigate the globe, within a year spent in Australia, Achille acquired all the certification needed to work on a yacht and joined a 30 m sailing catamaran. He has gained valuable skills and extensive knowledge since then and is nowhere more at home than at the helm. With more than 10 years at sea, Achille has taken vessels to many parts of the world, including Mediterranean, Egypt, Caribbean, Bahamas, the East coast of the USA, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

An experienced navigator and marine engineer, advanced open water PADI diver and kite surfer, Achille has a generous amount of knowledge to share and takes great pride in creating tailor-made sailing experience for each charter on board OTOCTONE 80.

Chef Jean Baptiste comes from Toulon where he grew up sailing with his family around the Mediterranean from the age of 7. From that time he became so enthusiastic about sailing that as an adult he has completed necessary maritime qualifications and participated in numerous regattas.

Cooking has always been his passion. Prior to turning it into a career, Jean Baptiste expressed his creativity in art and graphic design. It was more than 10 years ago when he embarked on his first culinary adventure as a cook. Since then he acquired solid culinary experience and developed refined culinary skills to deliver flawless service to his guests.

Well versed in the Mediterranean cuisine, he will impress guests on board OTOCTONE 80 with his signature dishes rich with flavours and fresh ingredients.

Originally from Venezuela, Jaider fell in love with the sea as a child when sailing along Venezuela’s Caribbean coast with his father. His strong affinity for the sea encouraged him to become a professional seafarer.

For the past 6 years Jaider has sailed throughout the Mediterranean, crossed the Atlantic and cruised the Asian waters of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. In addition to sailing, he is passionate about wakeboarding, water skiing and enjoys sharing his skills with guests.

Good-natured, friendly and positive, Jaider will make sure everyone has safe, relaxing and carefree journey on board.
