John Esslinger

Captain

John was born and raised on the coast of Oregon in the US where he developed his passion for the oceans. A very experienced sailor, John is never more at home then at the helm and has sailed across the Mediterranean, North Sea, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and nearer to his adopted country of England around and across the English Channel.

John’s career has been spent in or around the water including eight years in the United States Coast Guard, where he honed his knowledge of marine safety and security. Upon leaving the military he used his training and entrepreneurial spirit to build and run his own marine electrical business where he designed and developed electrical systems for superyachts and contracted with cruise ship companies, developing an in-depth knowledge of the boating industry.

Moving to London in 2008 he retrained as a landscape and architectural photographer, allowing him to connect with nature and use his skills as a visual craftsman in new ways. During this time he was able to continue sailing, participating and skippering boats in various races around the UK and southern Europe.

John will be taking his many years of experience as a sailor and outdoorsman to the helm of E where will continue to spread the message of marine conservation and responsible tourism, teaching others how to enjoy the best the water has to offer and how to ensure it remains a sustainable resource for future generations.

A passionate chef who trained at the prestigious Kurt Scheller Academy, Chef Marcin has perfected classic French cuisine, which he delivers with a modern twist. His food is diverse, nutritious and even features elements of molecular cuisine.
