Crew
Cyle Steyn
Born in the midst of South-Africa, in a town called Nelspruit, Cyle was raised on a farm surrounded by beautiful wild life and adventure around every corner. Coming from a family where chasing sunsets was in their blood, his passions for travelling and living life to its fullest quickly formed. He left with a small back pack the day after graduation and set for the coastline where he fell in love with the salt life. His eagerness for adventure lead him to new hobbies such as surfing, diving, fishing and sailing. He decided to pursue a career where he could enjoy these hobbies and travel the world while doing them. He has experienced over 6 successful years in the yachting industry in which he has completed his 200 ton license, diving certificate and approved engineering course. He is a very happy person who loves to interact with people and learn from them. He strives every day to be better than he was the day before, and is excited to make your experience on board relaxing and fun.
Carly Benjamin
Born and raised in Tampa, Florida with grandparents living down on the Florida Keys as well as the British Virgin Islands, Carly has grown up with a passion for the ocean and everything it has to offer. Coming down to South Florida for college while working in the Hospitality industry lead her to segway her career into yachting. Five years later, not only has yachting allowed Carly to pursue her career professionally, but it made her able to pursue her hobby of travelling around the world. Having done many seasons travelling extensively throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean, she is excited to return to some of the beautiful islands she once called home. On her downtime you will find Carly paddle boarding, hiking, and meeting new people. Some of her favourite places include Chang Mai Thailand, Kaui, Hawaii, and Virgin Gorda in the BVI’s. Carly hopes to one day be able to sail around the Pacific as well as circumnavigation. Carly is here to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, please feel free to reach out to her for anything.
Shaphan Markelon
Eleven years ago our chef, Shaphan Markelon, left a career in education to pursue his passion of cooking. Upon graduating from Le Cordon Bleu, Shaphan went onto work for some of the country’s best chefs, including Norman Van Aken and Hugh Acheson. Six years ago, Shaphan left the restaurant world for the yachting industry to combine his love for travel and cooking. A consummate student of his craft, Shaphan recently spent time in Gascony, France studying and training with some of the best chefs, farmers, and butchers in whole animal butchery and traditional French cuisine. As a staunch supporter of local farmers and producers, Shaphan will be sure to delight and surprise you with a taste of whatever tropical locale I Love This Boat pulls into next!!
Kristen Hanley
Kristen was born and raised in the cosy town of Princeton, New Jersey. While earning her BA in Journalism and Media Studies at Rutgers University, she volunteered at wildlife sanctuaries in South Africa, where a fellow animal lover introduced her to yachting. Her biggest passions include travelling and hospitality, which made boating a welcome new stage in her life. Seeking adventure after graduation, she moved to Florida and started in the yachting industry. Her hobbies include reading, working out, and photography. Kristen has been on M/Y I Love This Boat since March of 2017, and hopes to make your stay on board as enjoyable as possible.
Andrew Davison
Andrew spent his childhood in the rainy town of Newcastle in Northern England. At the age of 12 he and his parents traded clouds for the sun on the west coast of South Florida. The new environment sparked his enthusiasm for water sports and boating, which are still his passions today. With a sister already in the yachting industry, his interests made his transition into being a deckhand second nature. His outgoing personality and experience on the water will give you memories you'll have for a lifetime.
Jose Pena
Jose joined M/Y I Love This Boat in November 2016. Born in Cali, Colombia, he relocated to the U.S. at a young age. Most of Jose’s hobbies are related to the water; he thoroughly enjoys fishing, swimming, snorkelling, diving, and – of course – yachting. He has been an Open Water diver since 1994 and enjoys sharing his experiences. Jose has been an engineer on yachts since 2009 and travelled throughout the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, St. Marten, Guadalupe, Panama, and other parts of the Caribbean. His main priorities are for the guests to have a great time and a peace of mind, so, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask.
